It’s evening. I have just left the shed and now I’m making my way back to the dormitory. After leaving Ladeena this morning, I found no other time to go back to the shed during the day, but I’m hopeful this will not affect my progress.
This was the last time I applied my treatment. And, let me tell you, it was a particularly painful session. My skin got really tender and sensitive. My legs are aching even more than usual. But this is not why I have to cease the treatment. I can endure the pain, that’s not the problem. The reason is that in two weeks’ time, the supervisors will check on us. And by then the wounds must heal, and only the signs remain.
Ladeena is avoiding me but at least she didn’t report the incident. Good for her and good for me. We both have secrets that are better left alone. I’m just curious to what motive did she put on her ugly face being smashed. People must wonder.

I watch every day in awe as my wounds are beginning to heal and they leave behind a beautiful wavy pattern, a shade of greenish-brown signs, like the bark of a tree. Or so they say – I’ve never seen a tree in my entire life. The thing is, they look great.
My treatment has worked. I congratulate myself for taking this matter into my own hands. Who said you can’t change fate?
